We would like to inform that Institute of Eastern Law named after Gabriel Shershenevich foundation started the implementation of “Support for entrepreneurship and career growth for women in the Republic of Armenia. Seminars on Polish and European experience (legal and economic)” project.

We are glad to mention that the partners of the project from Armenia are «Centre of Economic Cooperation Poland-Armenia-Caucasus» foundation and “Eurasia” charity public organization.

The aim of the project is to support and initiate systemic changes aimed at the development of entrepreneurship and professional career among women, primarily in the regions of RA.

According to analyses, women in the regions of Armenia have been left de facto alone and without any knowledge about the possibility of changing their current social status, they actively maintain their previous traditional roles, often only as housewives, or at most as low-paid physical workers.

Women in the regions seem to have come to terms with this situation. According to the “Gender Barometer of Armenia” sociological survey conducted over several years until 2019, as many as 56% of women believed that in case of unemployment, priority should be given to men when applying for a job, 41% of women were afraid to start a new job, noting that will not cope in a new job, and as many as 21% of the women surveyed said that women should not work at all.

This is the reason that the goals of the project are systemic support in the development of entrepreneurship among women in the regions of Armenia, conducting an in-depth analysis of the existing problems that prevent Armenian women from taking a more active part in individual entrepreneurship and identification of tools and necessary legal changes, etc. to overcome barriers to women's activation.
